Disneyland

We took Ash on a birthday trip to disneyland.  We haven't had passes for the last year so she didn't really remember what it was all about.  It didn't take long to re-acquaint her. ;)  Now all I hear is "mommy, can we go disneyland?" like five times a day! :) lol!!

We also took her for a birthday dinner at ariel's grotto at California Adventure.  It's super cute and where all the princesses hang out.  I thought that she probably wouldn't get it and that it would be a waste o cash...but i needed the photo op ;)  Boy was I wrong!!!!  She couldn't get enough of them!  She was waving and yelling from halfway across the restaurant HI BELLE!!!  HI CINDERELLA!!! I kept trying to tell her that they would come by our table and not to bother the other people while it was their turn, but that all tends to go in one ear and out the other of a not quite 2 year old! :) 

Unfortunately the lighting was TERRIBLE!!!  not even my 50mm/1.4 could handle it.  dim dim light inside combined with harsh sun setting light pouring in the windows was not a good combination.  o, I had to use my flash for most of them..GAG!!!  But I think with a little edit they turned out better than I was thinking they would! :)

And about the outfit.....I MADE IT!!!!  yep you read that right! :)  Well, not completely from scratch, but the aplique and ruffles are all me. :)  I had been looking EVERYWHERE for a cute 2 year old birthday shirt and it seemed like I could only find really ugly ones or really expensive ones from a boutique...SO, I went to walmart, spent two bucks on a t-shirt created an applique out of a few scraps of fabric and sewed it on! :)  Once I saw how it turned out I decided to take the leftover favric and attach it to a pair of jeans that wer getting a little short.  Ta Da!!

We took her to see the new playhouse disney live show and she was in awe.  Seeing all her favorite characters come to life was a little too exciting!! :)

Hope you had a Happy Easter!

We had a weekend of fun and family...always the best.  Our neighborhood is the greatest.  There are about 30 kids on our little street and we love to get together for block parties.  We had a breakfast and egg hunt on Saturday morning then church and a family dinner on Sunday.  The weather couldn't have been any more beautiful...record setting heat about 88 degrees.  AMAZING!!

I love the excuse of a holiday to dress the kids up really cute for church in matching outfits.  This year I found a dress for Ash and then decided to go with that color scheme.  I ended up special ordering a shirt for Andy just to find the right shade.  Then I took it a step further this time and John and I got in on the action!! lol!!  I know, I'm a little nuts!!  John didn't have quite the same vision as me.  When I told him Andy was going to be in white pants and a purple shirt and tie I think he really thought I was crazy...but I think it turned out pretty cute!

Celebrate!

We celebrated a little around here this week...the big 2!!!  I've got tons to share next week but here's a little preview of the birthday girl. :)  I TOTALLY blew out the color on these...I think the hat just called for it!! :)  Off to do an Easter shoot!

St Patty's day

Hpoe you had a happy one!!  Andy made a leprechaun trap and thought he was lucky all day.  It was hillarious!!  I took the kids to McDonalds for lunch and when we got home we realized that they had accidentally put two bags of fries in his happy meal.  He was totally convinced that it was the luck of the leprechaun that had done it. 

Unfirtunately that luck didn't carry over into me getting any good pictures of the two kids together. ;)  I thought I'd show you this just to let you know that my job isn't always easy and YES, my kids do get tired of pictures!! lol!! (actually i think it's more that ash didn't want to be held in place by andy!!:)

I did manage to get a few of them separately...once I distracted Ash with some candy.  No, I'm not above bribes!! :)

Today's an exciting day for me. :)  My photos have now spanned the world. :)  A few months ago I taught a photo segment of a scrapping class at a great store in San Diego with a dear friend Teresa Collins.  She is an amazing scrapbook product desinger and one of the kindest people you will ever meet!  I spent part of the day taking head shots of the 50 girls that took the class.  I was terrified!!!  Here I was with 50 scrapbookers who know a thing or two about photos taking their pics!!!  Not to mention that the set up was TERRIBLE!!!  I was in a warehouse with flourescent lighting crammed back in the corner next to the bathroom against a mustard yellow cinderblock wall.  It was the only free wall space in the whole building. (that's becuase the store is SO awesome it was jam packed with stuff) so needless to say I was FREAKED out that the pics wouldn't turn out very well. :)  There was a sweet girl there, MIki, who was writing an article for Creating Keepsakes Japan.  She asked for some of my pictures and now they are in the latest edition of CK and on the CK Japan blog!! :)  WooHoo!!

Flower Fields

I LOVE spring!!!  There is this BEAUTIFUL field of wildflowers over by our church that springs up every year.  It's amazing how as soon as the weather turns warm it just pops up.  Amazing yellows and oranges.  Of course I had already been planning a little trip over there for the photo op, but another mom asked me if I had seen the fields and would be willing to shoot her girls there.  Uh, of course!!!  :)   I thought that by arriving in the late afternoon we would get a beautiful warm glow on the girls and still have great flowers.  Little did I know that these particular flowers tell time.  They don't open if the sun isn't out, and when the sun isn't directly overhead they start to close up and head to bed for the night. :)  So we had partially open flowers...but I think we still got some great shots.   What do you think??

Like the new look???

I decided it was time for a fresh look. :)  What do you think of the new header???  I saw one just like it on another blog I LOVE and decided to give mine a new feel too.  I'm lovin the color. :)

Spring Training

Spring has sprung in our house for sure!!  The t ball season has started! :)  That means long afternoons and Saturdays spent at the ball field watching the munchkins run around and play.  I'm sure grateful for the time change...now it won't be dark at the weekday games!! :)
